Top Rated Seller Top Rated Seller. From United States. InterFit Tungsten 3200 By Paterson Lighting Head. From United States. The Interfit 300i looks pretty good from what I can see online. There should be one dial that sets the light output from full to 1/16th power (4 stop range). There will also be a switch to turn the modeling light off. With this light the modeling light is dimmed to match the power of the strobe, which should help a lot.

Upto now I`ve been using portaflash lights- not great but cheap!
I now have bought the Interfit Colorflash 300i, much more power and control etc.
The only problem I have is it fires very erratically. I have been using some cheap (again) wireless triggers to fire my old lights but it doesn`t work in 3 out of 4 shots with the colorflash. I have tried the sync cable that come with the flash but that doesn`t work in 2 out of 3 shots.
Any of you clever sods out there have any idea what is going on with this lot? Does the 20d have the oomph to trigger this light?
Any help or advice would be gratefully received
Any one know where I can download the instruction manual for the 300i?

A 20D camera, or any other device that you use to trigger a flash unit, does not supply any 'oomph'.
The triggering device, either camera or other, functions as a simple switch. In all older and even some newer cameras this switch was indeed just that, a very tiny mechanical switch.
But, in most newer cameras it is no longer a mechanical switch, but a transistor or transistor on an IC that mimics the function of a mechanical switch. In your case this switch is inside the radio receiver you are using is firing the flash.
But, the camera only provides a switch to the circuit.
All the 'oomph' (or Voltage) is supplied by the actual flash unit. Or in your case, the radio transmitter on your camera.
Enjoy! Lon

Sounds like it is the flash unit, or possibly the sync cord.

I had for 300i's and saw the same problem with several radio sets of varying qualities - I'm afraid it's design of the light....
