Nach Baliye ('Nach' means Dance and 'Baliye' means partner or mate) is a dance, reality-television series on the Indian STAR Plus channel. The contestants are couples (called 'jodis' in Hindi) who are television stars. The first and second season aired on Star One and then shifted to Star Plus. Its name in Punjabi is inspired by a song from the Bollywood film Bunty Aur Babli (2005).
It is a family entertaining dance show which was aired on Star One in the first season but then it started broadcasting on Star Plus for the next consecutive seasons till now. The participant celebrities are couples in their real life; otherwise, they can’t participate in this show. The show is produced by Balaji Telefilms, and the format of the show is quite accessible. The celebrities compete with each other to win the trophy by performing different forms of dance with different styles, themes and tunes. At that time, this show gained quite healthy TRP among TV reality shows. The couple Sachin and Supriya Pilgaonkar gave a healthy competition to Poonam Narula and Manish Goel. The couple won the trophy on 19th December 2005 along with unlimited love from their fans. Manish Goel and Poonam Narula were strong competitors but they lost due to the bonding and never-ending love between Sachin and Supriya. Isha Kapoor, David Dhawan, and Vaibhavi merchant were the judges in this season. The winners of Nach Baliye 3 were Sanjeeda Sheikh and Aamir Ali who left Abhishek Avasthi and Rakhi Sawant behind with fierce competition.
4. Winners of Nach Baliye Season 4: Shaleen Bhanot and Daljit Kaur
Nach Baliye 4 was held in the year 2008 when the winners became Shaleen Bhanot and Daljit Kaur. The judges in this season were Arjun Rampal, Karishma Kapoor and Farah Khan. This show was aired on 3rd January in the UK and the runner-ups were Naman Shaw and Megha Gupta.
5. Winners of Nach Baliye Season 5: Jay Bhanushali and Mahhi Vij
The fifth season was broadcast in the year 2012 and it was hosted by Karan Wahi and Gautham Rode. Terrance Lewis, Sajid Khan and Shilpa Shetty were the judges of this show. The season 6 came out on 9th November in the year 2013, and the winners were Asha Negi and Rithvik Dhanjani who left Debina Bonnerjee and Gurmeet Choudhary behind in the season. Rithvik and Asha are one of the hottest couples on the television and they have huge fan following also. Shilpa Shetty, Sajid Khan and Terrance Lewis were the judges of this season. Karan Wahi and Gautam Rode hosted the show. Paras Chhabra and Sara Khan entered the competition with wild card entry. The winner of Masterchef show, Ripudaman Handa came with her wife Shivangi Verma to participate in this season which came at 3rd position. The winners of this season were Amruta Khanvilkar and Himmanshoo Malhotra. They left behind Rashami Desai and Nandish Sandhu who were fierce competitors. Smiley Suri and Vineet Bhangera were eliminated in the first week while Neha Saxena and Shakti Arora quit the game.
